MEMORIES OF IMAGINATION SERIES:1

3D Construction. Magnifying glass, photography, and wood. 4.5" x 4.5" x 7.5"

The digital world seems to kidnap my kids on a daily basis. I seem to be constantly trying to manage the amount of time they spend playing video games and watching TV. I notice how their imagination doesn't get exercised enough and they spend a lot of time enjoying someone else's creative thoughts. These works are reminiscent of my childhood. A time when my imagination went wild with imaginary friends and dreaming up strange places. The photax house is based on the photax viewfinder. My parents had one which came with a few slides of "a place far away" (London). I would lie in their bed for long periods of time and look through this little box at the illuminated photo inside pretending to be in this strange land.

Looking through the birdhouse viewfinder takes you back in time and into a whimsical world full of the "magical". A 6-8 year old girl pretending to be whoever she wanted to be and playing with her imaginary friends.

3D Construction. Magnifying glass, photography, and wood. 4.5" x 4.5" x 7.5"

For some reason I seem to work in pairs. So I have two so far but I have new ideas to continue the series yet. Walt Disney is such an inspiration. What other place on earth allows children to imagine and pretend comparably to Disney World?

Home.
