ARTIST STATEMENT

“Look at everything as though you are seeing it for the first time, with eyes of a child, fresh with wonder” - Joseph Cornell.

I have been driven by subject matter more than technique in almost everything that I have produced. With a “whatever works” attitude my work becomes playful, even when dealing with serious issues such as women’s issues, capital punishment, racism, alcohol and culture, among others. My work is also a diverse combination of various techniques and media, each bringing with it new challenges and surprises. My hope is that others would view my work as having a childlike sophistication which sparks intrigue and depth of thought, moving them to take the freedom they already own to imagine their own stories (ambiguity is a treasured pleasure when I choose an image/object).
